Board Of Supervisors Regular Meeting May 6, 2010

NEWLONDON TOWNSHIP BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

MAY 6, 2010

The New London Township Board of Supervisors Regular Meeting convened at 7:35 PM at the New London Township Building, New London, PA.  The following Supervisors were present:  Dale Lauver, Robert Barto and Gerard Porter.   

PUBLIC COMMENT

No public comment on agenda items. 

ADMINISTRATIVE ACTIONS

State Representative Tom Houghton

Representative Houghton gave an overview of State Budget issues as they relate to Southern Chester County.  He advised that he introduced legislation to do away with property taxes.  He also reported that education funding needs to be increased.  Representative Houghton then answered various questions from the Board. 

Pennock Bridge Road Detour for Bridge Repair

PennDOT is requesting approval to detour traffic from State Road to School and then to West Avondale in order to repair the bridge on Pennock Bridge Road.  The Board of Supervisors approved the detour route. 

SECRETARY’S REPORT

On a motion made by Bob Barto, seconded by Gerry Porter, the April 1, 2010 Regular Meeting Minutes were approved as presented.  Dale Lauver abstained from the vote as he was not present at the meeting.

TREASURER’S REPORT

On a motion made by Gerry Porter, seconded by Bob Barto, the Bills To Be Paid for May were approved and the financial reports were accepted as presented.  The vote was unanimous. 

STAFF REPORTS

Planning Commission

Ron Ragan reported that the Comprehensive Plan work continues.  Four ordinances have been sent to the County for review. 

 Engineer

Ron Ragan advised that CWA will be doing a soft dig Tuesday, May 1 on West Avondale Road to locate the water main. Conards Mill – Repairs will take place after the permit is received. Utility Building – grading will start tomorrow.  MS4 report is due June 9th.  Ron will complete the report. 

Zoning Officer

Trish Fagan reported that seven (7) permits were issued in April; no were for single family dwellings.  Six (6) Use & Occupancy Certificates were issued in April, three (3) were for single family dwellings.

Emergency Management

Mike Predmore reported that the Fire Company voted to proceed with a Substation in London Britain.   Hazard Mitigation Program – The Board of Supervisors needs to adopt a Resolution and Mike will complete the paperwork. 

Newsletter

Information is still being gathered. 

Property & Building Use

Dale suggested that the Township Building parking lot be paved and striped.

OLD/NEW BUSINESS

Dale suggested that the Board of Supervisors hold one meeting per month for the months of June, July and August. 

Assessment Appeals

None. The meeting adjourned at 9:35 PM.
