NLT PLANNING COMMISSION REORGANIZATION AND REGULAR MEETING MINUTES FOR 1/12/2022
The New London Township Planning Commission Reorganization Meeting opened at 7:00 PM via Zoom video conference. Present were: Ron Ragan, Chairman; Mary Anne Steel, Vice Chairman: and Members Martha Straus, Charlie Humkey, and Lynn Klingensmith. The Minutes were recorded by Maureen Zdun.
Reorganization
Chairman
Mary Anne Steel made a motion to approve the nomination of Ronald Ragan for the office of Chairman, seconded by Martha Straus. The nominations were closed. The vote was unanimous.
Vice Chairman
Ron Ragan made a motion to approve the nomination of Mary Anne Steel for the office of Vice Chairman, seconded by Martha Straus. The nominations were closed. The vote was unanimous.
Meeting Dates / Times
Ron Ragan made a motion, seconded by Martha Straus, that the 2022 meetings will be held on the second Wednesday and last Thursday (workshop) of each month at 7:00 PM. There will be no workshop meetings in November or December. The vote was unanimous.
Regular Meeting
The Regular Meeting commenced at 7:06 PM.
Public Comment
There was no public comment.
Minutes
A motion was made by Mary Anne Steel, seconded by Martha Straus, to approve the June 9, 2021 Regular Meeting Minutes as presented. The vote was unanimous.
A motion was made by Mary Anne Steel, seconded by Martha Straus, to approve the November 10, 2021 Regular Meeting Minutes as presented. The vote was unanimous.
Landscape Ordinance
Township Consultant, David Sweet and Martha Straus, reviewed the latest draft of the Landscape Ordinance. There was some discussion regarding the Landscape Ordinance.
R – 1 District Ordinance
Township Consultant, David Sweet, asked the Planning Commission Members to review the latest Memorandum from the Township Solicitor, Sam McMichael. Mr. Sweet will email the Memorandum to the Planning Commission Secretary, Maureen Zdun.
Park Subdivision
It was agreed that the Planning Commission would suggest to the Board of Supervisors not to subdivide and sell 835 West Avondale Road and / or the strip of land next to English Lane until an updated master plan is completed. They suggested that the pole barn located on the property at 960 State Road may be good for park related purposes, and recommended that it not be removed until the updated plan has been approved.
The Planning Commission agreed to have Martha Straus, of Straus Associates, create an updated master park plan. Ms. Straus expressed that she would be happy to complete this, in collaboration with Ron Ragan, of Ragan Engineering, as long as the Board of Supervisors is in favor of this. They will work on a rough estimate of what it will cost and present it to the Board.
