NEW LONDON TOWNSHIP BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
WORK MEETING MINUTES
June 18, 2025

The New London Township Board of Supervisors work meeting convened at 6:00 PM at the New London Township Building.  The following Supervisors were present:   Mary Anne Steel, Chairperson; Dale Lauver, Vice Chairman; and Dale Yates, Supervisor.

PUBLIC COMMENT

There was no public comment on Agenda items.

Work Minutes Approval

A motion was made by Dale Yates, seconded by Dale Lauver, to approve the May 21, 2025, Board of Supervisors Work Meeting Minutes.  The vote was unanimous.

Spencer Andress Provides Update to the Board of Supervisors

Spence Andress, of Government Services Inc., provided an update to the Board of Supervisors regarding obligations and requirements related to Act 537, the Pennsylvania Sewage Facilities Act.  Ron Ragan and Spence Andress discussed the alignment of Act 537 with the Township’s updated Ordinance and possible next steps for the Township.

Ordinance Amendment

Based on guidance from Winnie Sebastian, Township Solicitor, a motion was made by Mary Anne Steel, seconded by Dale Lauver, to have Winnie advertise a hearing to adopt Chapters 1, 2, and 4 of the new Zoning Ordinance.  The vote was unanimous.

Resignation of Maureen Zdun

Mary Anne Steel, Chairperson, announced that the Board had received Maureen Zdun’s resignation from her position as Secretary and Treasurer.  Mary Anne stated that Maureen could not be present for the meeting but would be available on the phone if needed.  Mary Anne informed the audience that Maureen offered to stay until September 1, 2025 but they are keeping the resignation date open.  The Board expressed gratitude for her service to New London Township.  They are currently working on a transition plan.

A motion was made by Dale Lauver, seconded by Dale Yates, to accept Maureen’s Official Resignation.  The vote was unanimous.

OLD / NEW BUSINESS

Volunteer Picnic

The Board of Supervisors discussed the upcoming Volunteer Picnic, scheduled for Sunday, June 29th, from 12:00 to 4:00 PM.  Mary Anne Steel commented that she needed to follow up with Martha Straus regarding the new park bench that will be dedicated at the picnic.

Zoning Issues

Vice Chairman, Dale Lauver, requested the Township Zoning Officer contact the owner of a farm on State Rd. that has a severe overgrowth of Canada Thistle, a noxious weed.  Gerry Porter, Roadmaster, added that he had a complaint about runoff issues from a farm on School Rd.

Executive Session

Chairperson Mary Anne Steel announced that an Executive Session had been held before tonight’s meeting to discuss personnel issues.

She also advised that another Executive Session will be held after tonight’s meeting to discuss personnel issues.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:08 PM.
