New London Township is happy to announce the long awaited completion of the New London Township Park, Phase 1.
Visitors can now enjoy the following.
The scenic pond which is an important stormwater management feature,
The large picnic pavilion with tables and available electricity,
The new Erica Stanwell playground for kids 2 through 12,
Paved and natural trails, and seating areas,
Additional landscaping, meadows, trees, and shrubs,
ADA portable restrooms,
The new and existing parking lots are now wheel chair accessible,
And, through the generosity and skill of Cedar Knoll a bridge over the wetlands which will bring park goers into this beautiful, soggy, space.
Natural features with in the site will be preserved and enhanced while invasive species will be controlled. There will be ongoing educational opportunities for visitors to learn more about regional plants, animals, wetlands, meadows and woodlands through interpretive signage and study areas placed along the park’s looped trails. Because several areas of the property had been overrun with choking vines, the short and long-term restoration strategies of these areas will become part of the visitor’s experience.
The Township intends to continue the park improvements in future phases. The Site Plan illustrates additional features including a pier and gazebo over the pond, fitness equipment “pods,” sand volleyball and bocce courts, a putting green and a new multipurpose hard-surface court.
Phase 1 has been funded in part through grants from the following donors:
Bureau of Recreation and Conservation PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
Municipal Grant Program, Commissioners of Chester County, Pa.
Commonwealth Financing Authority, PA Department of Community and Economic Development.
And, the citizens of New London Township.
