The Township Tricentennial & Tree Lighting Celebration was a great success! We all had a great time seeing so many of our neighbors and friends show up for the celebration.
The Township would like to thank all the people that helped with the planning:
Ron and Janice Ragan – for all the preparation work. Ragan Engineering for the donation of the pavilion and tree lights. Dave Schupp and Gerry Porter – for lighting planning and installation; Charlie Humkey – for Township history research; Mary Anne Steel – for sign design and printing, and supplies purchasing; Stacey Hallman for her sign design and her art students – for making the tree decorations and organizing the “Feed the Birds” craft project; Martha Straus – for sourcing our new tree and coordinating new signage; and the Zdun family (Maureen, Joe Sr. and Joe Jr.) and Donna Milewski – for setting up our luminary trails. Our evening would not have been possible without all of their hard, collaborative work. A very special thanks goes out to Clark Brothers Nursery for the donation and planting of our new tricentennial tree.
We would also like to thank those that participated during our celebration:
Mala Marcano and Emily Lucas at AGIS helped gather music students to provide the great string instrument concert and the singers that entertained us during the celebration. We had students from all 4 schools represented! They were wonderful and set the mood for the entire night. New London United Methodist Church and the Christian Life Center for the scrumptious cookies and treats. Patti and Ken Crossman for the festive and yummy kettle corn. The Yellow Mug for the delicious hot chocolate. Stacey Hallman and AGIS Art Club for the bird friendly art craft for the children to make during the event. Boy Scout troop 62 for help with the setup and work during the event and cleanup after the event. Without them we would still be picking up the luminaries and putting everything back in place. Charlie Humkey who tickled us with the reading of the History of New London Township, who knew there were so many signers of the Declaration of Independence from New London! Medic 94 for their participation and providing a view of their important work for our residents. And finally, West Grove Fire department for escorting Santa to our park so he could talk with the children.
